Roger Walker — Lead Director

Roger Walker, Lead Director, Walker EcoStrategies

Roger Walker is a senior property, energy and sustainability leader with more than 25 years directing complex programs for some of Australia's largest organisations — including Westpac, Optus, Lend Lease, Commonwealth Bank, IKEA / Planet Ark Power and BGIS.

He is the "translator" between the commercial, technical and government worlds: aligning owners, investors, engineers, government and community, building the commercial and funding case, and getting first-of-kind programs delivered. With a background in property valuation, he brings a strong grasp of the financial analysis and drivers of asset value to every engagement.

His track record includes leading the partnership and delivery of the IKEA Adelaide microgrid — one of Australia's largest grid-connected commercial microgrids; creating the t3 environmental-upgrade model with CitySmart (with QIC and the Queensland Government); directing the 76 Berry Street exemplar retrofit (~85% lower emissions, 6-star NABERS+); and delivering $2M a year in savings across Westpac's 500,000 sqm property portfolio. He delivered the first NSW Environmental Upgrade Agreements and is an individual NSW Green Globe Award winner.

Roger has represented the property sector on government panels — including the NABERS Stakeholder Advisory Committee — for over a decade, and chaired the Building Better Returns research program with Federal and State government, the Green Building Council of Australia and the World Economic Forum. He is based in Brisbane and currently directs the RSL Queensland statewide resilience community-hub program.
